Well, if you read my last review - you'll know I don't hesitate to be a real critic when it's called for. We went to Hola for dinner on Sunday evening around 18h00. Sat outside initially, however although the sun was beaming into the courtyard, the Westerly wind made it a bit unpleasant and too cool. Easily and willingly we were relocated inside to a great sunshine filled table. Music was great in the background and the waitress was on hand constantly. Initially and deftly she took our first order for drinks and starters - Bottomless Cokes for all (at $3 each - a bargain....we drank about 4/5 glasses each which works out to less than a dollar a glass!!!!!!); 1 x Hola Chicken Wings - 2 big chicken Wings @ $6 - Great serving - large wings - Hot & Spicy Chipotie Pepper Sauce over crispy fried chicken wings served with Carrot sticks, Celery sticks & Ranch dressing.....a really great dish and almost a meal on it's own!. We also had two Small Nachos Corn Chips at $9. A goodly serving of Nachos covered (and I mean covered!!!) with chili con carne, melted cheese (lots and lots of it) and topped with Salsa, Sour Cream and a great tasting Guacamole. Now, I've been to Tijuana and other places in Mexico before - this is good and better than many in Mexico in the tourist areas!and much cheaper than in Mexico itself. Main courses were Enchiladas - 2 x Beef, 1 x Chicken at a well priced $15.50 per plate. Enchiladas you might think, but this is a big plateful - Two soft corn Tortillas filled with meat and cheese, rolled up and smothered with special Hola! sauce and melted cheese. Served with Mexican rice & Beans, Salsa, Sour cream & Guacamole in abundance!!! I have to say, I ate here a year ago - it was good then - and the food has improved dramatically and considerably since. Last time it was kind of good. This time it was the most enjoyable, best value for money, best presented, pleasantly served and most tasty meal I have had in NZ. At the next table were two genuine Senoritas (from Mexico) Habla'ing away and drinking Margarita's that looked just the business and enjoying the food and the ambience. The owners were right on hand making sure all the guests were happy without being intrusive. All round a great meal and a great evening out as well!. This is a restaurant that will see me soon - in fact - this weekend again. The service was good but the food was genuinely Great - a really good meal for a fair price, prepared well, presented well and enjoyed by all in the ambience and atmosphere of a genuine Mexican restaurant with the right music at the right volume and a really great selection of food available. Well done the owners. Highly recommended for locals and also visitors from out of town or other cultures - a great example of a seriously good Mexican meal at a good price right here in NZ!!!!!!! I'll be back - real soon!
